Dr. Saffron Newey provides mentorship to artists at any age or stage of their career; from beginners to those with experience or education in the visual arts. In a supportive and conversational manner, mentorship is catered to the individual’s own specific goals. These may include:

  • Learning about materials and techniques

  • Career advice at any stage

  • Digital portfolio creation for applications to university or galleries

  • Preparing CVs, exhibition proposals and artist statements

  • Structuring a practice

  • Having an exhibition

  • Developing conceptual methodologies

  • Essay writing

  • Support and encouragement; overcoming barriers to your development

  • Photoshop assistance

  • Constructive feedback on your artwork

About Saffron

For 30 years, Saffron has been a practicing, exhibiting artist. Currently represented by Jan Manton Gallery in Brisbane, she has exhibited in numerous galleries in Australia and abroad, including Artist Run Initiatives, Public Galleries and Commercial Galleries.

She currently lectures in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at RMIT University. In 2020 she was awarded a Ph.D in Fine Art, by an APA Scholarship.

Saffron’s experience as a tutor and lecturer in art education spans 25 years and crosses the sectors of VE (TAFE) and Bachelor Programs at Monash University, Victoria University, Chisholm Institute and RMIT University. From this vast experience she possesses the ability to identify various individual learning styles and hone personalised strategies for students. 

Fee $125 per hour (first meeting free)
